Good Morning, People of The World...
How are we doing?
Over the past few hours, several people have pitched their voices in the issue of Meek Mill and his current brouhaha, and I'm surprised people think this is a racist issue.
In 2007, Meek mill went on trial on over 17 gun charges and was finally convicted of 7 of them and was sent to jail.
Due, partly to comportment and good behaviour, and subject to keeping terms and conditions, Meek mill became eligible for early parole and was paroled way ahead of his initial release date.
For those who don't know, PAROLE is defined as 'Temporary release of a prisoner who agrees to certain conditions before the completion of their maximum prison sentence.'
Generally speaking, if you behave well in a reformation institution in the US, you can be released way earlier than your original release date, providing that you keep the terms of your parole. Usually, this includes the condition that you shouldn't be arrested or caught breaking any law during the period of your parole.
Now, terms of Meek Mill's parole demands that he can't leave his state, Philadelphia, without the Judge's approval. This is in addition to him staying clean from drugs and not committing any crime. An arrest on its own is a violation of parole, whether the prosecution drops the charges or not.
In 2011, Meek mill violated his terms of parole. He also violated his parole in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
This year alone, he has been arrested twice.
Early in the year, he fought at an airport in St Louis, and as if that wasn't enough, he was arrested in New York for reckless driving in August. To add salt to injury, he just recently failed a drug test, which could mean he had either Meth, Cocaine, Marijuana or other banned substances in his body system at the time.
Did I also forget to add that he has traveled to different parts of the US without getting a court approval, as was stated in his parole agreement?
I want to understand what part racism had to play in all this. How hard is it to stay away from crime?
If you do not want to do time in prison, you can easily avoid these sorts of confusion in your life.
IF YOU DO THE CRIME, GET READY TO DO THE TIME.
